The Pasay city government kicks off the 160th founding anniversary celebration with the Christmas tree lighting on Wednesday, Nov. 22.
According to Pasay Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, the city will be celebrating its 160th founding anniversary on Dec. 2.
Rubiano said aside from the lighting of a 36-foot Christmas tree, the city government conducted a gift-giving event for 160 children coming from the city’s 201 barangays.
She said the Pasay EDSA Rotary Club headed by Armin Demetillo coordinated with the city government for the distribution of food packs, toys, and hygiene kits.
The mayor said the activity themed “Be the Light” also fits the celebration of the 160th founding anniversary of the city.
“Angkop na angkop sa ating tema ng parating na Pasay Day (Our theme suits the coming celebration of Pasay Day) Be the Light! As we light this Christmas tree, sana sa bawat kislap ng mga ilaw nito ay kumislap din ng kaliwanagan sa buhay ng bawat Pasayeño. Kahit ano pa man ang pinagdadaanan ng bawat Pasayeño (I am hoping that the glint of the light there will always be a light to the life of every Pasayeno) at the end of the tunnel," said Rubiano.
