P1-M educational aid turned over to 200 Kapatiran scholars in Negros

BACOLOD CITY - A total of 200 scholars of the Rebolusyonaryong Partidong Manggagawa ng Pilipinas/Revolutionary Proletarian Army/Alex Boncayao Brigade-Tabara Paduano Group (RPM-P/RPA/ABB-TPG) or Kapatiran para sa Progresibong Panlipunan (Kapatiran) received P1 million in educational assistance from the provincial government of Negros Occidental.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson led the ceremonial distribution of the assistance to 30 of the 200 scholars who are in Senior High and College levels at the Negros Residences here on Tuesday, November 21.
Each Kapatiran next to kin grantee received P5,000.
Lacson said that education is the most important component of his administration and that it is his utmost priority to strengthen educational policies.
Lacson expressed hope that the scholars will advance to be confident individuals, responsible citizens, and effective contributors to the community, society, and the nation.
The governor assured that the provincial government will continue to support the programs to promote peace and security, as he thanked the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity, the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police for implementing the programs on peace and order.
Brig. Gen. Orlando Edralin, commander of Army 303rd Infantry Brigade (IBde), re-affirmed the commitment of the Philippine Army, through its line units, as a strong and credible partner of the provincial government.
“Your 303rd IBde family will always be a helping hand to ensure that these students, the hope of our country, with the continuous support of the provincial government will meet their rightful path towards self-advancement and development,” Edralin said in a statement.
The RPM-P/RPA/ABB-TPG or Kapatiran is a recipient of the transition plan implemented by the government as part of the whole-of-nation approach to end local communist insurgency and attain inclusive and sustainable peace.
