Marcos flies to Tacloban, GenSan amid massive flooding, strong quake aftermath
President Marcos flew to Tacloban and General Santos City following the massive flooding in Northern Samar and strong earthquake that jolted Mindanao while he was in the United States last week.

Marcos arrived in Tacloban on Thursday morning, Nov. 23, where he held a situation briefing on the impact of the shear line in Northern Samar.
He was supposed to land in Catarman but his plane was unable to land, so he was redirected to Tacloban, Malacañang said.
The details on his situation briefing was yet to be released but the President shared on his Instagram account that he instead held a virtual meeting with officials in Catarman.
"Situation briefing via Zoom in Tacloban on the combined effects of shearline and LPA (low pressure area) in Northern Samar," Marcos said.
Around 57,000 individuals have been affected by the flooding situation in Eastern Visayas as of Nov. 21, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.
It added that eight rain-induced landslides and 71 flooded areas were recorded in Leyte, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Samar.
After the situation briefing on Northern Samar flooding, Marcos proceeded to General Santos City where he also gave a situation briefing following the 6.8-magnitude earthquake in parts of Mindanao on Nov. 17.
He was also scheduled to distribute various government assistance to affected families, inspect damaged city planning and housing offices.
