The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended the driver’s license of a motorist in a viral video of a road rage in Mandaluyong City involving an Angkas rider.
LTO chief Vigor D. Mendoza II said the road rage resulted in serious injuries of the Angkas rider and his backrider after they were deliberately hit by a Suzuki Wagon along the southbound lane of EDSA in Barangay Wack-Wack on Wednesday morning, Nov. 22.
Citing a police report that reached the LTO office, Mendoza said the Suzuki Wagon driver deliberately hit the motorcycle after its rider suddenly cut in his way and ignored him when he was trying to warn him over the incident.
What drew the ire of the Suzuki Wagon driver was when he almost hit the motorcycle when its rider suddenly changed lane along EDSA.
As a result, the rider and his backrider suffered injuries when the motorcycle crashed.
The incident was caught on dashcam and later went viral on social media.
Based on its own investigation, Mendoza said the vehicle is registered to a bank and the driver was a 53-year old man.
He said a Show Cause Order was already issued on the driver of the Suzuki Wagon for violations of Republic Act 4136 sucj as Reckless Driving (Section 48), Duty of a driver in case of accident (Section 55), and Improper Person to Operate a Vehicle (Section 27-a).
Mendoza said he already tasked the LTO-National Capital Region to conduct further investigation into the matter in order to get the side of the driver and the motorcycle rider in the spirit of due process.
