Shear line, 'amihan' may continue to bring scattered rains over parts of PH — PAGASA

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 22 said the shear line and northeast monsoon may continue to bring rains to most of the country in the next 24 hours.

In Bicol Region, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Aklan, Capiz, Biliran, Northern Samar, Samar, and Eastern Samar, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may persist due to shear line—an area where the cold northeasterly winds and warm easterlies converge.

The public is warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains in the affected areas.

PAGASA said Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, and Apayao may have cloudy skies with light rains, while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan.”

Meanwhile, it warned those in the rest of the country, particularly in high-risk areas, to be wary of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms, as isolated rain showers will be felt.
