QCPD arrests man for selling illegal guns


Operatives of Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU) arrested a man for allegedly selling unlicensed firearms in Quezon City on Tuesday, Nov. 21.

Police identified the suspect as Mark Anthony Montelbano, 44, a resident of Barangay Rizal, Taguig City.

Reports showed that on Saturday, Nov. 18, CIDU operatives received information from a confidential agent regarding the suspect's involvement in the sale of unregistered firearms and illegal drugs in Cubao area and near Project 4 Police Station.

The CIDU and District Intelligence Division (DID) team conducted a surveillance to confirm the reported activities which led to the identification of the suspect.

The operatives then launched a buy-bust operation against Montelbano at 15th Avenue, P. Tuazon, Barangay E. Rodriguez, Quezon City at around 9 p.m. on Nov. 21.

A police officer acted as a poseur-buyer and successfully bought one .45-caliber pistol with magazine loaded with five ammunition from the suspect.

The suspect will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act in relation to Omnibus Election Code, police said.
