Certificates of live-birth, marriage, and death will now be recognized and accepted in all government or private transactions regardless of the issuance date.
This as the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) signed the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act (RA) No. 11909, or the "Permanent Validity of the Certificates of Live Birth, Death and Marriage Act.”
The law aims to streamline processes and eliminate unnecessary requirements for issuing documents.
For instance, there have been some concerns on government and private agencies requiring for these documents to be issued within the past six months.
Also under the law, government agencies, private companies, schools and non-government entities will be prohibited to ask for newly-issued birth, death and marriage certificates in their transactions.
One of the IRR’s goals is to inform the users of civil registry documents, stakeholders, and the public about the permanent validity of the civil registry documents.
The ceremonial signing of the IRR was spearheaded by the National Statistician Claire Dennis S. Mapa, with officials from concerned government agencies as witnesses.
