Marcos calls for unity vs climate change, global warming

President Marcos has urged Filipinos to work together to address the threat of global warming and make the country more resilient against climate change.

Marcos said this in celebration of the 16th Annual Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week on Wednesday, Nov. 22.

In a pre-recorded video message, the President reminded the public of their roles to address the effects of the changing climate.

"We all have a role to play in this mission. So we must work together— take a stance in support of our planet," he said.

"Let us be involved in creating solutions to mitigate the effects of global warming and climate change," he added.

Marcos said this is part of his government's push for a new Philippines.

"Isa lamang po ang ating layunin, ang magkaroon ng isang Bagong Pilipinas na matatag sa mga pagsusubok, payapa at ligtas para sa mga mamamayan at puno ng pag-asa tungo sa magandang kinabukasan (We have one goal: to have a New Philippines which is resilient during challenges, peaceful and safe for all, and filled with hope for a bright future)," he said.

According to Marcos, the effects of climate change are becoming more evident.

"Rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and a decline in biodiversity are stark reminders of the need to quickly respond to this immediate environmental concern," he said.

"I enjoin the Climate Change Commission to effectively communicate this year's theme of unity and cooperation for a more resilient and adaptable nation," he added.
