The Department of Health (DOH) released a warning on Tuesday, Nov. 21, citing the similarity between vaping and smoking due to the presence of nicotine in both.

It cautioned the public against the “misconception” that vaping is a safe alternative to smoking.
The DOH emphasized that nicotine, a common chemical in cigarettes and vape products, had raised concerns due to its negative effects on the brain.
It also emphasized the detrimental effects of nicotine, which are especially severe in young people, on important brain functions like mood, attention, learning, and impulse control.
The DOH also revealed that scientists had long established that the brain undergoes continuous development until the age of 25.
The agency warned that persistent use of vaping could not only impact brain development, but also compromise a person’s overall health.
