World leaders wished to meet Marcos in APEC summit — PH envoy
Many world leaders wanted to talk to President Marcos when he attended the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in the US, Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Manuel "Babe" Romualdez said Tuesday, Nov. 21.
Romualdez described Marcos' participation in the gathering of economic leaders as being "on top of his game."
"Because everybody, I mean everybody, every world leader would like to meet up with him and have a conversation with him," the envoy said in an interview with ANC.
"And I saw that at the reception that was hosted by President Biden, where everybody, all the leaders were starting to sort of like go towards him," he added.
Romualdez said the recent APEC in San Francisco is Marcos' "best trip" so far, considering that he was able to meet and talk to 21 world leaders.
Their discussions focused on achieving the country's economic security, Romualdez said, as well as invitations for the world's leaders to come to the Philippines.
"You have now a world leader that is respected, and they very much would like to have a meeting with him if possible," he said.
