Thousands of devotees joined the much awaited annual procession for the revered Nuestra Señora De La Regla or Our Lady of the Rule whose feast day was observed on Tuesday, Nov. 21.

Carrying lighted candles and holy rosaries, devotees of Lapu Lapu, City, Cebu’s patroness prayed the holy rosary and sang hymns during the solemn procession.
The Marian title Our Lady of the Rule was believed to have originated from St. Augustine, who dedicated to her the rules he created for the members of the Augustinian Order.
The shrine and miraculous image of the Virgen De La Regla is located in Lapu-Lapu City in Mactan Island, Cebu.
Then Archbishop Julio Rosales canonically crowned the Marian image on Nov. 27, 1954 during the Archdiocesan Marian Congress, the first image from the Visayas to receive such recognition.
Cebuanos and Marian devotees from nearby provinces have been celebrating the feast day of Our Lady of the Rule for more than 280 years.
A grand procession is traditionally held every Now. 21 which also marks the first day of the novena masses for Nuestra Señora de La Regla.
The image was transported via a motorcade to the Pacific Cebu Resort and placed in a vessel decorated with flowers, the same vessel used during the Santo Niño’s annual procession in January.
