CEBU CITY — As part of the intensified anti-criminality campaign, the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) conducted a two-day region-wide simultaneous police operation that led to the arrest of close to 500 crime suspects.
The PRO-7 reported that from November 16 to 17, 448 persons were arrested and 1,838 grams of shabu with an estimated value of P12,503,000 were seized.
In the series of anti-illegal drug operations, 142 drug personalities were arrested, including one high-value individual identified as "Niko."
Niko was arrested with at least a kilo of shabu in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Lorega, Cebu City past 10 p.m. on Friday, November 17.
The PRO-7 added that 117 persons were arrested while P17,778 cash was recovered in a series of anti-illegal gambling operations.
At least 155 wanted persons were also arrested during the two-day period.
In the same period, 141 unlicensed firearms were seized while 12 persons were arrested in the campaign against loose firearms.
Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, chief of PRO-7, said the successful two-day police operation was a result of an intelligence-driven strategy to fight all forms of criminality in the region.
“Our campaign against all forms of criminality will continue with even more resolve and enthusiasm. This is one key ingredient in delivering a safe and secured Central Visayas,” Aberin said.
