If she would have her way, Iloilo 1st district Rep. Janette Garin wants the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) to cater to more disadvantaged sectors-- specifically the deaf, mute, blind, and those with down syndrome.
Garin, a deputy majority leader, proposed that additional financial assistance or "ayuda" be given to persons with these conditions.
"Nararapat lamang po na bigyan ng dagdag na tulong ang ating mga kababayan na may kapansanan upang makatulong sa kanila (It's only right for us to provide help to our disadvantaged citizens)," she said.
Garin proposed that such move be implemented during the BPSF in Iloilo. The lady solon is former Department of Health (DOH) secretary.
Eventually, the lawmaker also hopes that this type of assistance would be implemented nationwide.
A project of President Marcos and House Speaker Martin Romualdez, the BPSF aims to bring government services closer to the Filipino people.
