Angkas connects with Pag-IBIG for bikers' social safety nets
Ride-hailing platform Angkas recently partnered with government agency Pag-IBIG Fund to help bikers register and avail of housing loans.
Angkas said the strategic partnership was established to "enhance the social safety net for bikers and their families, offering accessible and sustainable housing loan options as part of Angkas' holistic approach to driver well-being."
During the "Alagang Angkas: Pamilya (Family) Weekend" event on Nov. 19, the transport platform was able to connect around 1,000 bikers and their families to on-site Pag-IBIG agents who assisted them in registering and answering inquiries regarding loans.
Angkas CEO George Royeca said that, aside from strengthening their biker base's social safety nets, they also "recognize their daily efforts on the streets and commitment to delivering quality service to our customers."
They also partnered with community selling platform SariSuki, offering cheap grocery products.
Previously, Angkas launched the "Weekend Market" initiative to help bikers and their families earn supplementary incomes by selling fresh produce and other goods.

The family day event was conducted to celebrate and support their riders, who Royeca described as the "core of our operations."
"This family day reflects our commitment to providing the help and support they deserve, acknowledging their hard work and dedication. It's also an opportunity for us to listen and discover how we can better serve them," he said.
The bikers and their families gathered at the Angkas main office in Cainta, Rizal to avail of services such as health screenings, eye exams, and dental checkups.
They were also offered wellness services such as haircuts, manicures, and massages. Children were entertained with a magic show, film showings, and an inflatable play area.
Angkas said it is committed to providing services to "enhance the overall quality of life" of their bikers.
