Kyuhyun was one of the actors who played the role of Ben-Hur in the musical and Nov. 19 was the last day of its run. He was not scheduled to perform but visited the cast since it was the last day.

Korean media reported that a woman in her 30s entered the dressing room and threatened and brandished a knife, which he hid in her clothes, at another actor.

Kyuhyun restrained the woman and suffered a minor injury in his finger. The police, who responded more than 30 minutes after the incident, arrested the woman and are investigating.

In a statement, Antenna, Kyuhyun’s new agency, explained what happened.

“We hereby bring to your attention an incident involving Kyuhyun, which took place during his visit to celebrate the final performance of the musical Ben-Hur on the 19th,” Antenna said.

It added, “While he was in the dressing room, Kyuhyun encountered an outsider who caused distress to other actors. In the course of restraining the intruder, he had a minor abrasion on his finger. He was immediately treated on the spot and is currently in good health, fully capable of continuing his regular activities.”

“We express our gratitude to all the devoted fans for their genuine concern. Rest assured, we remain committed to supporting the artist.  Thank you for your understanding and continued support,” said Antenna.

According to the police, the suspect has a history of mental illness and they are investigating how she obtained the knife.
