Fully prepared

Aside from the local government units (LGUs), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said it is also prepared to respond to PISTON's transport strike by deploying government vehicles that will offer free rides to commuters.

Around 37 vehicles from the agency, Office of the Vice President, Office of the House Speaker, and private bus companies were deployed to the areas to be adversely affected by the protest.

MMDA Chairman Atty. Romando Artes, Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Atty. Hubert Guevera, MMDA General Manager Usec. Procopio Lipana, Assistant General Manager for Operations Asec. David Angelo Vargas, Traffic Discipline Office Director for Enforcement Atty. Artes also reminded traffic enforcers to prioritize traffic management and be alert for spikes and other harmful debris reportedly scattered by the protesters on the roads.
