MIAA takes over long-abandoned PH Village Hotel

After two decades of legal battle, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) finally took over the Philippine Village Hotel located inside the Nayong Pilipino compound.

MIAA has been fighting for possession of the abandoned hotel as it emphasized the danger it poses to the airport operation since it is located beside the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2.

MIAA officer-in-charge Bryan Co said the Pasay City Metropolitan Court Branch 45 has already issued a notice for the occupants of the hotel to vacate the building.

He said the order was served by Sheriff Randy Leviste who was assisted by the MIAA security personnel. 

"This morning (Nov. 21), our personnel have already entered the hotel premises when they assisted the court sherriff in implementing the notice to vacate. MIAA security personnel immediately conducted security checks in all the facilities because we have not checked this building for more than 20 years," said Co.

He said the hotel was turned over peacefully and orderly. 

With the MIAA taking control of the hotel, Co said the area will be utilized in the modernization program of the NAIA., especially on the expansion plan of the airport. 

Currently, Co said the back portion of the Philippine Village Hotel is already being used as a ramp for airplanes.

"Our priority here is for the building expansion of the NAIA Terminal 2. But we are currently conducting assessment," said Co.
