Issuance of new Noche Buena SRP bulletin faces delay – DTI

The release of the official suggested retail price (SRP) bulletin or price guide for Noche Buena items may delay as some manufacturers are yet to submit their final price lists, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said Friday Nov. 17.

“I have talked to the CPAB (Consumer Protection Advocacy Bureau), and they said they are still in the process of consolidating the submissions and waiting for the remaining manufacturers to submit their final price lists,” Undersecretary Maria Blanca Kim Lokin said in a viber message to reporters.

Lokin added that “the delay in the submission has been a result of recent talks between the DTI and the manufacturers.”

Previously, DTI officials said that they were expecting the release of the SRP guide for Noche Buena items to be made by the second week of November, noting that 80 percent of manufacturers had already submitted their final price lists.

“We are expecting final submissions to be made latest on the [third] week, so the Department can already come out with the official Noche Buena Price Guide soon,” Lokin said, adding that the price guide will take effect upon its publication.

Noche Buena items are food items or ingredients for Filipino dishes commonly served on Christmas Eve celebration. These items include ham, fruit cocktail, cheese, keso de bola, pasta/spaghetti, elbow and salad macaroni, spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, and all-purpose cream.

Meanwhile, DTI Assistant Secretary Mary Jean Pacheco previously mentioned that some brands of ham are expected to increase prices by up to four percent based on the initial price lists of some meat manufacturers.
