The program, with the theme "PAGBASA: Pag-asa sa MATATAG na Kinabukasan," is spearheaded by DepEd's Bureau of Learning Delivery (BLD) of the Curriculum and Teaching Strand.

"This initiative aims to foster a love for reading among learners and enhance their understanding of reading and literacy as pivotal in cultivating critical thinking," DepEd said.

The activity also focuses on empowering public and private schools to join the reading celebration as anchored in the MATATAG Agenda's literacy programs.

During the "Araw ng Pagbasa" celebration, Duterte is expected to read a story and launch her children's book "Isang Kaibigan."
