AFP launches cyber expo at Camp Aguinaldo

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) kicked off a cyber exposition at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City on Monday, Nov. 20, which highlighted the need for the military to enhance its capabilities to adapt to the future of modern warfare.

Lt. Gen. Arthur Cordura, AFP Vice Chief of Staff, graced the opening of the two-day Command and Control, Communications, Cybersecurity, Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (C4ISTAR) EXPO 2023 organized by the AFP Communications, Electronics and Information Systems Service (CEISSAFP).

In his speech, Cordura said that the exposition stressed the urgency for the AFP to develop its digital arsenals and raise public awareness on the importance of responsible use of technology in protecting the country from different kind of security threats.

“I hope this two-day expo will highlight two significant points – first, our digital arsenals, which reflects our strong commitment to adapt and evolve in the rapidly changing landscape of modern warfare to ensure that the AFP remains at the forefront of global military excellence; and second, the importance of responsibly leveraging cyber technologies in safeguarding national security as we maintain a competitive role in the ever-changing global security environment," Cordura stated.

The exposition carries the theme “The AFP Enhancing its Digital Battlefield: Adapting to the Future of Warfare.”

It features lectures and exhibits that serve as an opportunity for the spectators to engage with experts and explore the latest trends, developments, and breakthroughs in the cyber domain.

Cordura expressed gratitude to the AFP's partners from the public and private sectors as he conveyed his optimism in bolstering the military's security and defense capabilities.
