Teachers who worked ‘overtime’ could be given add’l service credits --- DepEd
Additional service credits could be given to teachers who served as poll workers during the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), the Department of Education (DepEd) on Thursday, Nov. 2, said.

When asked whether teachers who worked more than 24 hours during the polls would receive overtime pay, DepEd Assistant Secretary Francis Cesar Bringas said: “They could be given additional service credits on top of the five (5) days service credits.”
Bringas, in a Viber message to reporters, explained that service credits are “not cash but leave credits equivalent to a day’s salary.”
Teachers’ Dignity Coalition (TDC), in a letter sent to the Commission on Elections (Comelec), said that additional pay was among the top concerns of public school teachers who served in the BSKE.
TDC said that due to the delays in some of the tasks, some teachers had to work “straight 30 hours” without sleep.
