Alas, who was a late addition to the Nationals but nonetheless made an impact to the team especially during the semifinal game against China, shared that he had learned a lot from the Hangzhou campaign especially playing under head coach Tim Cone.
The Road Warriors main man repaid the trust of Cone and delivered crucial baskets that kept the Nationals afloat before Justin Brownlee took over and completed the 20-point comeback.
“I'm hoping na yung mga lessons and experiences na nakuha ko sa Asian Games ma-impart ko rin sa mga teammates ko coaches as well,” said Alas.
“Playing under coach Tim was really a blessing for me kasi pagdating palang sa practices, of course, basics, I think alam ko na but he had to correct a lot of basics from me so really, really grateful na kahit paano na under nya ako kasi this is the first time I played under coach Tim sa Asian Games,” he added.
Alas wanted to share those lessons particularly to their new players in the likes of Richie Rodgers and Enoch Valdez in hopes of making big strides in their rookie year.
“Si Richie Rodger at saka si Enoch Valdez of course, give them some tips a bit. I hope to spend more time with them kasi di ko pa sila masyado kilala. I hope na makatulong talaga sila sa amin this coming season,” he shared.
Alas is expected to lead the charge for the Road Warriors along with Don Trollano and NBA caliber import Thomas Robinson.
NLEX is looking to become a consistent contender in the playoffs especially after making it to the quarterfinals in two of the three conferences last season
