Cloudy All Souls' Day weather with rain expected due to shear line, 'amihan'

Most parts of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms on All Souls’ Day due to the shear line and northeast monsoon (amihan), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

“Patuloy pa din ang epekto ng shear line at amihan sa malaking bahagi ng Northern Central Luzon (The effect of the shear line and the northeast monsoon continues to prevail over a significant portion of Northern Central Luzon),” said Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-PAGASA Weather Specialist Aldczar D. Aurelio in the latest public weather forecast on Nov. 2, Thursday.
“Maulan na panahon ang inaasahan natin sa malaking bahagi ng Northern Luzon, lalo na sa silangang bahagi nito kasama ang lalawigan ng Quezon (We expect rainy weather over a significant portion of Northern Luzon, especially in its eastern areas, including the province of Quezon),” he added.
LPA dissipates
Aurelio said that the LPA over Isabela being monitored by PAGASA has dissipated on Nov. 1.
“Kagabi ay tuluyang nalusaw ang binabantayan natin na Low Pressure Area (LPA) sa bandang Isabela (Last night, the LPA we were monitoring in the vicinity of Isabela has completely dissipated),” he explained.
“Sa kasalukuyan, wala tayong nakikitang panibagong LPA o bagyo sa dagat Pasipiko lalo na sa loob ng Philippine Area of Responsibility [PAR] (Currently, we are not observing any new LPAs or typhoons in the Pacific Ocean, especially within the PAR),” he added.
Effect of shear line, ‘amihan’
Based on the latest weather advisory of PAGASA, the shear line is affecting the eastern sections of Northern Luzon and Central Luzon while the “amihan” is also affecting the rest of Northern and Central Luzon.
In Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon, PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shear line is expected.
Cloudy skies with rains brought by the “amihan” are also expected in the rest of the Ilocos Region, the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms will also prevail in Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate, to at times, heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
