In the Art Capital of the country, residents traditionally remember their departed loved ones on All Souls' Day, Nov. 2.
Unlike in other places where Filipinos go to cemeteries on Nov. 1, which is All Saints’ Day, in Angono, Rizal, the peak of the observance of Undas happens every Nov. 2 with people lighting candles and offering flowers in cemeteries and columbaries.
As early as Oct. 30, at the Municipal Cemetery, kids and young adults have been offering services of painting and cleaning the tombs to relatives of the deceased.
Police personnel and local government peace keepers have been deployed in the vicinity of the cemeteries since Oct. 31 to ensure the safety of the cemetery goers.
At the Angono Public Cemetery, a visitor to one the tombs said she would like to appeal to the local government to rehabilitate the cemetery, particularly the area that gets flooded and muddy.
