Parañaque LGU to deploy 'Libreng Sakay' vehicles amid transport strike
Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez announced on Saturday, Nov. 18, the deployment of vehicles to assist commuters who will be stranded during the three-day transport strike to be conducted by transport groups from Nov. 20-22.
The mayor said the city government will deploy vehicles for a “Libreng Sakay” to ensure that the commuters to reach their destinations as classes in both in public and private schools as well as work in the government and private offices in the city will not be suspended on the said dates.
Olivarez said the government vehicles to be deployed will go around the city’s major thoroughfares to help ferry stranded commuters for free.

He said the “Libreng Sakay” will pass along Dr. A. Santos Avenue or Sucat Road going to Baclaran, Ninoy Aquino Avenue, Quirino Avenue and at East and West Service Road.
He said the city government will not conduct their regular flag raising ceremony on Monday due to the transport strike.
The strike will be led the Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (PISTON) group for fear of loss of livelihood due to the nation government's public utility vehicle (PUV) modernization program that aims for the upgrade of the PUVs.
