The University of Santo Tomas (UST) and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM), iACADEMY in Makati City, have confirmed the suspension of in-person classes on Saturday, Nov. 18.

"In case the transport strike extends beyond the initial three days, a separate announcement will be made regarding the continuation of online classes," the UST Facebook post added.

Meanwhile, De La Salle University (DLSU), Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), and the University of the East (UE) Manila and Caloocan campuses have already been announced on Nov. 17.

The University of the Philippines-Diliman (UPD) has also suspended in-person classes but has clarified that offices performing "essential functions," such as the University Health Service and UPD Police, must still report on-site.

The universities have also advised students to stay updated on any further announcements regarding the transport strike and its impact on their classes.

Last Nov. 15, the Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (PISTON), one of the largest transport groups in the country, announced its transport strike to protest against the government's deadline for the jeepney modernization program.
