Diamond Star Maricel Soriano got candid about her role as a mother.

During a media conference for her upcoming drama film "In His Mother's Eyes" under 7K Entertainment recently, Maricel said she's not a perfect mom.

Maricel, 58, admitted there were times she failed as a mother.

"Nagkulang ako sa time. Kulang na kulang ako sa panahon para sa mga anak ko. At hinihingi ko yun ng tawad sa kanila. Nag-date kaming tatlo para lang nagsorry ako sa kanila," said the award-winning actress, when asked about where she failed as a mother.

(I didn't have enough time. I didn't have enough time for my children. And I apologize to them for that. The three of us dated so that I could apologize to them.)

"Sinabi ko sa kanila, sana, you can still find it in your heart to forgive me. Sabi ng mga anak ko, no, Mom, we understand and forgive you. Nanlalambot na ako," she added.

(I told them, I hope you can still find it in your heart to forgive me. My children said, no, Mom, we understand and forgive you. I got weak.)

Maricel further discussed her two sons.

"Kapag yung mga anak ko na ang nagsasalita, hindi na ako makapagsalita. Kasi kapag may ayaw yung panganay ko, ayaw niya talaga. Yung isa naman mas malala. Parang linta na laging nakadikit. Pinapanood niya yung ginagawa ko. Kaya nandito ako babantayan kita. Sabi ko, security guard?" she said. 

Maricel, like many parents, believes that at times, he spoiled his children.

"Siguro doon sa maliit na bagay na ini-spoiled ko raw sila," when she talked about spoiling her kids. "Ang tagal naghintay ng mga anak ko sa akin. Inuna ko yung pamilya ko. Inuna ko ang nanay ko, ang mga kapatid ko. Pero now it's their time. Time na ng mga anak ko."

(Maybe it's in the little things that I spoiled them. My kids have been waiting for me for a long time. I put my family first. I put my mother, and my brothers first. But now it's their time. It's time for my children.)

Maricel also said she's ready to give up her life for her kids.

In a separate interview recently, Maricel said she's happy to have two handsome sons. She also dreams of having a grandchild. 

"Wala pa akong apo. Nagpapahanap na nga ako eh. Sabi ko sa kanila hindi ba pwedeng ngayon na? Sabi nila, ano yan binibili sa department store mama?" (I don't have a grandchild yet. I'm already looking for one. I told my sons, can't we have them now? They mentioned, 'It's not as simple as purchasing them from a department store.')

"Wala kasi akong anak na babae. Lalaki ang mga anak ko. Kaya kapag nakakakita ako ng mga girls, 'anong like mo? ano'ng feel mo? O tapos kuwento ka pa?' Ini-interview ko talaga isa kaya sinasabi ko, kaya tandaan mo dapat beautiful ka di ba at laging fresh. Kinausap ko sila na parang mga babies ko," she said, on her female co-stars from another program.

(I don't have a daughter. My children are boys. So when I see girls, 'What do you like? How do you feel? Or do you have a story?' I actually interviewed them one by one, so I say, remember, you must be beautiful and always fresh. I talk to them as if they were my babies.)

Maricel said she's happy to be reunited with actor Roderick Paulate in the tearjerker movie.

"Si Dick ay isang mahusay na artista. Hindi lang siya mahusay sa drama kundi mahusay rin siya sa comedy. Pero nakakaiyak si Dick kapag nagda-drama. Siguro kasi sobra ko siyang mahal kaya sobra akong affected sa kanya. Drama ang movie naman pero ang saya-saya namin sa set," she added. 

Aside from Maricel and Roderick, actor-singer LA Santos also stars in the movie "In His Mother's Eyes" which will be shown in cinemas nationwide beginning Nov. 29. It is directed by FM Reyes.

(Dick is a great actor. He is not only good at drama but he is also good at comedy. But Dick makes me cry when he does drama. Maybe it's because I love him so much that I am so affected by him. Our movie is a drama, but we had a lot of fun on set.)
