Marcos now in LA for 2nd leg of US trip

President Marcos has arrived in Los Angeles, California, as part of his three-leg trip to the United States.

Marcos arrived at the Los Angeles International Airport at 8:11 p.m. on Nov. 17 (LA time) following his attendance at the 30th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting in San Francisco.

While in LA, the President is expected to meet members of the Filipino community. He will also meet business leaders and other entities.

After his day trip to LA, he will fly to Honolulu in Hawaii to meet Filipinos and visit a defense facility and training center.

Marcos described his APEC participation as "very successful," with many major and smaller developing economies attending the regional gathering.

"We talked about climate change. We talked about AI. We talked about food security [and] energy security," he said in a media interview before departing for LA.

"[We talked about] what each of us can play in facing those challenges that the new world economy has brought us," he added.

The President also commended the US chairmanship and hosting of APEC 2023, which he said has provided them with a forum to do important work in the past two days.

Marcos is expected to return to Manila on Nov. 20.
