2,500 jobs offered to unemployed Manila residents

Around 2,500 jobs were offered to unemployed residents during the simultaneous job fairs in the city on Friday, Nov. 17.
Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan said the Mega Job Fair was held at the Arroceros Forest Park in Ermita, Manila, beside the Central LRT Station and Metropolitan Theater on Friday and was open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The local government initiated the activity with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) headed by Fernan Bermejo, the Department of Labor and Employment-National Capital Region (DOLE- NCR), and the DOLE Manila Field Office.
Lacuna-Pangan had directed Bermejo to continuously develop ways to provide jobless Manileños with employment.
Meanwhile, another job fair hosted by Barangay 498 through "Kalinga sa Maynila PESO Job Fair,” was conducted from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday at the corner of Maria Clara and Ibarra Streets in Sampaloc, Manila.
Mayor Honey said the job fairs were open for high school graduates, college level, college, and technical and vocational graduates.
The local chief executive said that thousands were hired on the spot during the simultaneous job fairs.
She thanked the private companies for hiring the applicants and contributing to the city government's efforts to help jobless Manila residents.
