LTFRB: Major transport groups in Central Visayas will not join 3-day strike
Major transport groups in Central Visayas have expressed commitment not to join the three-day strike that will be carried out by the Pagkakaisa ng Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (PISTON) starting on Monday, Nov. 20, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said.
LTFRB Chairman Teofilo Guadiz III said at least three major transport groups in Central Visayas have already forwarded a manifesto to the LTFRB office in the region that all their members will continue plying their routes.
Those that signed the manifesto are leaders of the transport ccooperatives under Kaluha Twin Trading & Services Corp., LUTG Lapu Lapu City United Transport Group, and the Federation of Cebu Transport Cooperative (FCTC) committed unhampered services to the public on Monday.
In the manifesto, the groups pointed out that a disruption in public transportation services would cause significant inconvenience to commuters who rely on their services.
Guadiz earlier assured the public that all preparations were in place to ensure that the expected transport strike on Monday would not disrupt commuters.
He recommended that local government units (LGUs) to not suspend classes on Monday, considering the preparations made by the agency and other concerned agencies.
