The smiles on the faces of former senator Leila de Lima and Albay 1st district Rep. Edcel Lagman in this photo shows just how glad they are to see each other again outside a police detention center.

"Thankful for having the chance to visit in her own home my fellow Bicolano, Sen. Leila de Lima," Liberal Party (LP) President Lagman said in a short statement to House reporters upon sharing the photo.

For nearly seven years, De Lima was held at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Quezon City for drug charges. Many Filipinos believe politics played a big part in her incarceration.

On Nov. 13, De Lima was finally allowed to post bail for her temporary freedom. The LP stalwart walked out of the detention center that same day.

For all that she has gone through, De Lima is "a woman with an invincible spirit, unshakable courage, and incomparable heart", Lagman said.
