Actor LA Santos takes his career to the next level as he plays a special child in the upcoming drama movie "In His Mother's Eyes" under 7K Entertainment which will be shown in cinemas nationwide beginning Nov. 29. It is directed by FM Reyes.

In the movie, LA plays Tim, a special child of Lucy, portrayed by Diamond Star Maricel Soriano. The actor discussed how he prepared for the role of a lifetime during a grand media conference in Quezon City recently.

"Unang-una po ay nirespeto ko ang mga special people. Hindi ko po kinalimutan na mahalin sila dahil para sa kanila po itong ginagawa ko.

(First of all, I respect special people. I never forgot to love them because I do this for them.)

"Ginawa ko ang lahat at nag research ako mabuti. Nakipagusap ako mga mothers na may anak na special. Gusto kong pasalamatan yung Best Buddies Foundation dahil sila po ang tumulong sa akin para magresearch pa po.

(I did everything and researched well. I talked to mothers who have special children. I want to thank the Best Buddies Foundation because they helped me to do more research.)

"Kinilala ko rin si Clarence who is a special kid po para sa character ko. Sinamahan ko lang siya at pinakinggan ko rin ang kuwento ng buhay niya. Na-amaze ako sa kanila dahil iba ang puso nila. Grabe ang emphatize nila sa tao. Kapag sinabing nasa spectrum hindi iisa lang eh. It's a wide spectrum dahil bawa't special kid, iba-iba talaga and special in their own way.

(Preparing for my character, I also recognized Clarence who is a special kid. I just accompanied him and I also listened to his life story. I was amazed by them because their hearts are different. They empathize with people. It's not just one spectrum. It's a wide spectrum because every special kid is different and special in their own way.)

"Buong puso akong nagpapasalamat ako sa movie na ito kasi gusto kong mabigyan ng justice ang mga special people rito sa Pilipinas. Sana maintindihan ng mga tao ang mga pinagdaraanan nila," LA said.

(With all my heart, I am grateful for this movie because I want justice to be given to the special people here in the Philippines. I hope people will understand what they are going through.)

Those who have seen the movie's full trailer believe it is the most difficult role the 23-year-old actor has ever played. And he passed with flying colors. While playing his challenging character, LA was asked about wonderful moments with his mother. The movie helped him to further appreciate his mom.

"Sobrang dami ng good memories ko kay mommy baka abutin ako hanggang bukas kapag kinuwento ko lahat. Sa totoo lang hindi pa ako sumasagot pero naiiyak na ako. Angels ang lahat ng mommy. Pinaka-unforgettable memory ko kay mommy is everytime na may work ako at lalabas, si mommy ang naglalagay ng makeup sa akin palagi. Inaaway niya ako kapag lumalabas ako na hindi naka-make up or hindi nakaayos. Kasi ngayong tumanda na ako, hinahanap hanap ko pa rin yun eh. Kapag may trabaho ako, ayoko magpa-make up sa iba," LA said.

(I have so many good memories with my Mommy that it might take me until tomorrow when I tell them all. To be honest, I haven't answered yet but I'm already crying. All mommies are angels. My most unforgettable memory with Mommy is every time I have work and go out, Mommy always puts makeup on me. She gets angry with me when I go out without makeup or not well-groomed. Now that I'm older, I still look for that. When I have a job, I don't want other people to put makeup on me.)

LA added: "Even before doing this film na-appreciate ko na talaga siya. Buong buhay ko, ibibigay ko talaga sa mom ko. Ginawa ko talaga ang lahat para sa character ko na si Tim para sa lahat ng mommy." 

(Even before doing this film I really appreciated her. My whole life, I will really give it to my mom. I really did everything for my character Tim for all mommies.)

Roderick Paulate, co-star of LA in the same movie, praised the young actor for his acting skills in the new movie.

"Kapag napanood ninyo si LA, magugulat kayo. Sinabi ko nga kay LA na isang direktor ang tumawag sa akin at tinatanong kung sino si LA Santos. Kasi trailer pa lang, believe na siya. That's why sabi ko ituloy mo lang yan LA," Roderick said.

Flor Santos, mother of LA, thanked her son's co-stars who helped him perform his role well.

"Thank you at napalabas ninyo si LA. Alam po ba ninyo LA has gone through a lot of workshop. Ang isang nakaka-proud yung ginawa ni Tita Ruby. Thank you at napalabas ninyo si LA. Minessage ko nga si sis Maricel, sa inyo ni Roderick. Thank you for sharing your screen with LA. Malaking utang na loob ko sa inyo yung screen ni LA. Kapag napanood ninyo ang movie, hindi ninyo yayakapin si LA kundi maaawa kayo sa isang katulad niya. After watching the movie, awang-awa talaga ako sa mga taong tulad niya. Pero kaya palang ilabas yung nararamdaman niya sa tulong ng mga taong nagmamahal sa kanya.
