P5.4-M aid extended to repatriated Filipinos from Israel — DSWD
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has so far assisted over 200 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and other Overseas Filipinos (OFs) who have been repatriated to the country amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza.
Since Oct. 18, when the first batch of repatriates began arriving in the Philippines, the DSWD has already provided assistance to 272 OFWs and OFs.
“The Department has released some P5.4 million worth of assistance to these repatriates which include cash and food aid,” DSWD spokesperson and Assistant Secretary for Strategic Communications Romel Lopez said.
The repatriates were from Israel, as well as Lebanon, the West Bank, and Palestine.
“Each repatriate was given P10,000 cash aid and another P10,000 food assistance through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation or AICS,” Lopez added.
The DSWD has also pledged to collaborate with other government agencies to provide repatriates with a whole-of-government approach during these difficult times.
