As revenge travel continues to boom after nearly three years of the pandemic, AirAsia Philippines said many Filipinos are opting to spend the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays away from their homes to various domestic and international destinations.
“Traditionally, Filipino families prefer to spend reunions at home or visiting the homes of loved ones. However, others, especially those who missed their summer vacation, choose to spend their holiday by the beach to experience a different kind of 'white Christmas'," said AirAsia Head of Communications and Public Affairs First Officer Steve Dailisan.

The most booked domestic places with the airline for travel from Dec. 20 to 31 are Boracay, Cebu, Panglao, Davao, and Tacloban.
Meanwhile, majority of travellers have also chosen to celebrate the holidays in Taipei, Taiwan; Incheon, South Korea; Tokyo, Japan; Hong Kong, China; and Bangkok, Thailand.
"In the same manner, younger, more adventurous individuals who’d like to have a short break from work prefer to spend their holiday get-aways with their peers and explore regional destinations outside the Philippines," added Dailisan.
The airline said it remains to see a "significant improvement" in its December bookings due to its fare promos, and lower fuel surcharges.
It also encourages travellers to book early to save on costs since ticket prices often increase near the preferred departure dates.
Dailisan remarked that AirAsia is committed to "offering reasonable fares and deals that will enable Filipinos to travel."
Currently, its "Go, Go, Go Holideals" continue to offer P91 one-way base fare deals for select domestic and international flights. These can be booked until Nov. 26, with travel dates until April 23, 2024.
As of Nov. 6, AirAsia recorded over 150,000 guests who booked their flights for travels from Dec. 15 to 31 this year.
According to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), the holidays may draw 125,000 passengers daily from mid-December 2023 to early January in 2024.
