Marcos orders quick response to Mindanao quake

President Marcos has ordered "every relevant government agency" to promptly take action to ensure the safety and well-being of those affected by the earthquake that shook different parts of Mindanao on Friday, Nov. 17.

Marcos said this following the 6.8-magnitude earthquake off Davao Occidental that was felt on many parts of southern Mindanao.
In an X post, the President assured the public that the government was on top of the situation.
"I assure you that the government is actively responding to ensure the safety of our citizens," he said.
According to Marcos, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has been activated, and the Civil Defense Regional Offices have been coordinating closely with local units to provide real-time updates.
"In these challenging times, my commitment to your safety and recovery is unwavering," he said.
"I have instructed every relevant government agency to fully contribute to ongoing efforts," he added.
President Marcos is still in the US for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting in San Francisco and working visits to two other cities.
