Alex Eala resumed her hot run at the Kyotec Open after dumping Danish qualifier Johanne Christine Svendsen, 6-3, 6-1, to book a quarterfinal berth on Friday, Nov. 17, in Petange, Luxembourg.

The ninth-seeded Eala imposed her assault on Svendsen throughout the match with her powerful strokes to inch closer to the title in this $40,000 International Tennis Federation (ITF) event.
The win set her up a meeting with another qualifier in Jasmijn Gimbrere of the Netherlands, who edged Julia Avdeeva, 6-3, 6-4.
Eala and Zyenep Sonmez of Turkey are also competing for a finals ticket in the doubles at press time against top seeds Ali Collins of Great Britain and Isabelle Haverlag of the Netherlands.
The other semis match pit second seeds Jesika Maleckova of the Czech Republic and Ksenia Laskutova against British pair Alicia Barnett and Samantha Murray Sharan.
