Do not forget your sworn oath, Tolentino reminds barangay councilors in Pangasinan

TAGAYTAY CITY – Sen. Francis N. Tolentino reminded Pangasinan councilors on Friday to not forget their oath of office for a smooth-sailing public service that could reflect up to the national scale.

During the 2nd General Assembly of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL)-Pangasinan Chapter, he said: "Iyong kahalagahan ng panunumpa is not just a ceremonial ritual for all officials elected or appointed."

He said that if only all officials embody their oath when they assumed position, there would be no problems from the local to national governments.

"Kung gagawin ang lahat ng iyon, wala tayong problema. Wala tayong magiging problema. Wala tayong magiging problema sa national government," Tolentino said.

In underscoring the importance of embodying oath of office, Tolentino cited those authorities who allowed foreigners to acquire Philippine passports, birth certificates, and other important documents.

"Ibig sabihin may nakalimot sa kanilang oath of office," the senator said in reference to the recent discovery of foreign nationals who have Philippine documents.
