Pasay Mayor Emi recognizes 'hero employees' of health office

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano recognized the hard work of the City Health Office (CHO) team, calling them “kawayani” or hero employees who give exemplar health services to the city's residents.

Rubiano acknowledged the CHO employees on Monday, Nov. 13 in a ceremony at the Pasay City Hall grounds.

She said the city government receives various recognitions from the Department of Health (DOH) due to the diligence of the CHO team.

The city government is continuing to administer flu and pneumonia vaccines to senior citizens with the help of CHO teams who distribute them to the city’s 201 barangays.

Rubiano said the other health programs of the city government are the distribution of medicines and vitamins to teachers and their students; rehabilitation of the city’s lone public hospital, the Pasay City General Hospital, expansion of city’s Health Centers and coordination with private hospitals.

She added that the city government also has a program called “Kandili ng Kalusugan," where senior citizens, children, the police and persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) can avail of medical services and attention.

Nine out of 13 health centers in the city have also been accredited by PhilHealth in its E-Konsulta program.

“Pasay City Healthcare is one of our strong front. During the pandemic, we were hailed as one of the most efficient and proficient local government units to handle the uncertainties of the pandemic. Let me remind everyone of this feat, and hope that somehow, we all get inspired by it to be better today, to be the best that we can be tomorrow,” Rubiano said.
