Philippine Airlines (PAL) is urging the public to remain vigilant against fake social media accounts that are soliciting unauthorized payments from customers under a false affiliation with the airline.
In a statement, PAL said "unscrupulous individuals have created bogus Facebook (FB) accounts that entice the public to submit job applications to PAL while demanding payment for application processing."
"PAL does not require any payment for application processing," emphasized the airline.
It explained that fake accounts "often utilize the identities of existing FB account holders without their knowledge."
The airline stressed that it does not condone this illegal act and action has been undertaken to take down the accounts.
"As of this time, all bogus accounts have been deleted after we reported the matter to META Philippines," it added.
PAL is reminding all customers and travellers that official announcements are issued through the PAL website at www.philippineairlines.com or the official PAL Facebook Page.
The public is advised to report or inform the airline of any questionable social media accounts using PAL's identity or name through the PAL Hotline 028855 – 8888 or its customer service email at [email protected].
