Deputy Majority Leader ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo rejected the notion that battle lines are being drawn between those who are siding with either Speaker Martin Romualdez or Vice President Sara Duterte in the House of Representatives.
"There’s no such thing as unity against the Vice President, unity behind Speaker Romualdez. I believe there’s unity to move this country forward.Yan din po ang hiling ni Pangulong Marcos, magsama-sama, walang maiiwan (That's what President Marcos wishes for, to come together and not leave each other's side)," Tulfo said in a statement Thursday afternoon, Nov. 16.
He added: “The goal is to unite for the people and progress, not against Sara Duterte or her family. The Speaker's instructions before leaving for the US (United States) were to continue working and passing laws needed by the executive department.”
Romualdez, leader of the 300-plus strong House, is accompanying President Marcos in his ongoing US trip.
On Thursday morning, Deputy Minority Leader ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro was quoted in media reports stating that discussions were circulating within the House regarding the potential impeachment of the Vice President.

However, Castro quickly clarified that these talks were not being taken seriously as the purported discussions on impeachment were merely deliberations among certain congressmen and not a substantial move against the Vice President.
Alluding to future possibilities, Tulfo underscored the need to assess the substance of any potential impeachment proceedings.
“Perhaps, in the future, with additional facts, details may emerge, altering the situation. However, currently, there's no substance, and it requires further review. As per the leadership, there's no discussion or plan for impeachment when we return on Monday,” he insisted.
