House Majority Leader Zamboanga City 2nd district Rep. Mannix Dalipe says there's no truth to rumors that Speaker Martin Romualdez is undermining Vice President Sara Duterte ahead of a potential showdown in the 2028 national elections.

In a statement Thursday afternoon, Nov. 16, Dalipe said that such rumors were "without merit".

Dalipe reassured the public that his party-mate Romualdez "has always shown respect towards the Vice President and such derogatory tactics are not part of his approach and his character".

That same morning, Deputy Minority Leader ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro bared that there were impeachment talks in the House against Duterte.

Dalipe--the right-hand man of Romualdez in the lower chamber--has denied this rumor.

Pundits believe that both Romualdez and Duterte will vie for the presidency in 2028.

As per Dalipe, Romualdez is "currently dedicated to advancing legislation in support of President Bongbong Marcos' agenda to improve the lives of Filipinos, and no decision has been made regarding a presidential bid".

Romualdez, the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) president, is the cousin of the incumbent President Marcos.

Vice President Duterte is the daughter of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) chairman and former president Rodrigo Duterte.
