The Iloilo City Council unanimously approved the budget in a session on Wednesday, November 15.
The budget of the city government under Mayor Jerry Treñas will increase by 21 percent or P641 million. This year’s budget was P2.95 billion.
The budget hike was attributed to increases in tax revenue, non-tax revenue, and the National Tax Allotment (NTA) to local government units (LGUs).
The City Mayor’s Office has the biggest allocation with P1.83 billion.
The budget for Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses was pegged at P1.46 billion while personal services was P1.16 billion.
The city government is set to ramp up more infrastructure projects next year such as construction and maintenance of drainage systems, flood control, and roads.
