The last day of the celebration was highlighted by various trainings such as vermicomposting production, coconut and giant bamboo production, and rhodo preparation and uses.

Exhibitors and students from the Bohol Island State University Bilar and Main Campuses and Garcia Hernandez National High School participated in the training.

“I am overwhelmed to see the enthusiasm and hard work of our organic agriculture practitioners in ensuring the protection of the environment and strengthening food security in the province,” said Gov. Aris Aumentado.

Aumentado commended the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, the Agriculture Training Institute (ATI), Department of Trade and Industry, and the Department of Agriculture for the successful holding of the month-long celebration.

ATI-Central Visayas Center Director Dr. Gracia Arado said Organic Agriculture Month is an essential celebration to encourage more individuals to go into organic farming.

Marilou Escalona, head of the Kapunungan sa Bol-anong Organikong Mag-uuma (KBoOm) and owner of the Organic Agriculture Institute, urged students to widen their knowledge on organic farming.

Escalona said that since 2007, some 1,000 students have graduated from organic farming training.

Dr. Larry Pamugas, assistant provincial agriculturist, said the exhibitors were able to generate P150,000 sales during the three-day exhibit.
