24,000 daycare students in Manila receive bags, shoes, uniforms
Around 25,000 daycare students in Manila received school bags, shoes and uniforms from the local government.

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan commended on Thursday, Nov. 16, the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) for ensuring that all students in 463 day care centers were provided with school supplies.
She also commended the city's social workers for undergoing training on Case Management to be equipped with knowledge on dealing with children who are drug users.
According to MDSW head Re Fugoso, they also provided books and hygiene kits to the daycare students.
Fugoso also reported to Lacuna-Pangan that there are a total of 1,568 street children who, along with their families, are being taken cared of at the Kamada Center located inside the Manila Boys' Town Complex.
"Aktibo ring kumikilos ang ating MDSW upang pangalagaan ang kapakanan, lalo na ng mga batang nasa lansangan, sa ilalim ng pangangasiwa ng Reception and Action Center, Manila Boystown at iba’t- ibang mga pribadong institusyon (Our MDSW is also actively working to protect the welfare, especially of street children, under the supervision of the Reception and Action Center, Manila Boystown and various private institutions),” she said.
"Sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon, noong Abril 12, 2023 ay naisagawa ang pagdiriwang ng National Day for Children in Street Situation sa tulong ng Network of Duty Bearers in Manila, (For the first time, on April 12, 2023, the National Day for Children in Street Situation was celebrated with the help of the Network of Duty Bearers in Manila)," the mayor added.
The MDSW, Fugoso reported that they also held a “Webinar on Values Formation" for children in conflict with the law (CICL).”
CICL refers to children or those aged under 18 who are suspected or accused of committing an offense.
It was learned that the number of CICLs at the Manila Youth Reception Center has recently decreased by 50 percent.
Mayor Honey also said that the city government, in coordination with Plan Pilipinas, also conducted a Digital Literacy and Online Protection of Children, among other programs launched in various districts in Manila.
She also added that at least 1,627 children who were victims of various kinds of abuses were aided by the MDSW through its district welfare offices.
