Pasig City serious in its fight against illegal drugs - Mayor Vico
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto stressed that the city is serious in eradicating its problem against illegal drugs as he called upon his constituents to be a part of the city and the national government's campaign against this so called "societal disease".

Mayor Vico Sotto
In time for Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week, Sotto said the city government continues to ramp up its efforts against the proliferation of illegal drugs.
The fight against illegal drugs is being taken seriously here in Pasig. We regularly hold meetings regarding our illegal drugs policies, anti-illegal drugs programs, and we are even hands on in some of our inititaives such as the TAGA MASID program where informants and citizens who give information about drug pushers and other information regarding illegal drugs receive incentives from the city government)," Sotto said.
He added that Pasig schools also hold regular anti-illegal drugs awareness campaigns to expand their students' knowledge about its effects.
Supply and demand
The mayor noted that the fight against drug abuse have two sides: Supply and demand reduction.
He explained that the supply side is the one people usually see in news headlines, which involves entrapment operations, raids, and police operations and added that the city government helps and supports the said operations both financially and resource-wise.
On the other hand, the local chief stressed that the demand side reduction must not be forgotten as as this is equally important or better yet, even more important than the supply side reduction.
Even if all drug pushers die today, after a month or two and there is still demand for it, the situation will not change, hence, the need for us to cooperate and be united against it)," Sotto said.
We must stand united in this fight because it is not an easy one. We have to admit that even here in Pasig, the problem still thrives. Let's all do our part to mitigate both the supply and demand of illegal drugs in our city)," he added.
