Marcos eyes PH-US business tie-ups on digital infrastructure during APEC trip

President Marcos hopes Filipino businesses would be able to sign deals with their American counterparts in various fields, including digital infrastructure and connectivity, renewable energy, and electronics manufacturing.

Marcos said this as he kicked off his third trip to the United States of America (USA) on Nov. 15, Wednesday (Manila time).
In his speech during his meeting with the members of the Filipino community in San Francisco, the President expressed optimism about his trip to the US, including meeting business leaders on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Meeting there.
"On the sidelines of the APEC meetings, my delegation will conduct business meetings in San Francisco to seek mutually beneficial investments and partnerships," he said.
"By the end of the four-day visit to San Francisco, we hope to witness the signing of agreements with various American businesses in the fields of digital infrastructure and connectivity, renewable energy, electronics manufacturing, health, and tourism, among others," he added.

President Marcos particularly highlighted in his speech the importance of digitalization as the country works on its innovation ecosystem.
"Dito sa pagbabago ng ating ekonomiya, marami tayong kinahaharap na suliranin. Tayo ay umaasa na ang teknolohiya ang magdadala ng solusyon diyan (We will face challenges as our economy undergoes transformation. We expect that technology will bring solutions to those issues)," he said.
"Kaya naman ay tinitingnan natin kung ano-ano ang mga bagong dine-develop dito sa America at sa mga ibang lugar para tayo'y matulungan (That's why we are looking into what are being developed in the USA and different countries to help us)," he added.
According to Marcos, the new technology would make the Philippines more efficient and make life easier for those dealing with the digital world. He said they would also increase connectivity for everyone, including those in far-flung areas.
The President asked Filipinos in America to support his administration's current endeavors.
"As we begin our mission here in San Francisco, I once again ask our Filipino community in the Bay Area and the Pacific Northwest for your full support as your government works to build a resilient, sustainable, and inclusive future for our people back home," he said.
