House Deputy Majority Leader ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro says she is "glad" with the developments in the grave threat charge that she has filed against former president Rodrigo Duterte.

"I am glad that the case is progressing and I hope that former president Duterte will face the charges and participate in the preliminary investigation," Castro said in a statement Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 15.

This was a few minutes after it was reported that the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office had issued a subpoena to the former chief executive for him to appear there on Dec. 4 and 11, 2023.

The summon, which the Makabayan congresswoman had described as "historic", was basically intended to have Duterte explain his side in connection with the grave threat rap filed by the solon last month.

It was last October when Duterte said in a television interview that the Vice President's confidential funds would be used for the reestablishment of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) and to fight off communist recruiters in the educational system.

“Pero, ang una mong target sa intelligence fund mo, kayo, ikaw France, kayong mga komunista ang gusto kong patayin,” he said.

(But the first target of your intelligence fund, you people, you France, you communists are the ones I want to kill.)

As expected, Castro didn't take this "death threat" from Digong sitting down.

"Rodrigo Duterte would do well to remember that he is not protected by presidential immunity anymore. We will review all possible courses of legal action to hold him accountable for his threats to Rep. France Castro and the Makabayan bloc," the Makabayan bloc said last Oct. 17, just before then filing of the case.

Vice President Sara Duterte is the former president's eldest daughter.
