Ex-cop's son falls in buy-bust

BACOLOD CITY – Police arrested a son of a former lawman in a buy-bust operation in Barangay 5, Silay City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, November 14.

Police identified the suspect as Jan Carlo Chan, 39, of Barangay 5. He allegedly yielded 19 grams of suspected shabu worth P129,200.

Police Major Rhea Sarah Villanueva, officer-in-charge of the Silay City Police Station, said the suspect is a street-level individual who allegedly sourced out his supply in Barangay Banago here.

Villanueva said that it took them three months to monitor Chan.

Also recovered from him were the P3,200 marked money, a car, drug paraphernalia, and P1,470.

Villanueva said that Chan’s father was killed by unidentified persons on a motorcycle in Silay in 2019 but the incident was not related to the police service.
