Bautista: NAIA ready to accommodate more passengers for Christmas rush
Buoyed by the positive outcome of the recent long weekend and holiday breaks, the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is ready to accommodate more passengers in time for the expected Christmas rush, Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said.
Currently, Bautista said around 130,000 domestic and international flight passengers troop to the airport on a daily basis.
“For the upcoming Christmas Season, we expect at least 138,000 passengers to troop the airport daily,” said Bautista.
Bautista said their preparations during the barangay elections and the All Saints and All Souls’ Day will serve as the barometer of their preparations for the Christmas rush.
During that long weekend and holiday breaks, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) registered an 84 percent on-time performance (OTP) for the NAIA for all domestic and international flights despite the huge volume of passengers that reached more than one million.
“We are now ready for Christmas season, especially all our airports,” said Bautista.
Bautista, however, advised passengers to avoid last minute booking of flights and arrive at least three hours before departure in order to avoid hassles.
