AFP promotes 6 senior officers

Six senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) were promoted to the next higher rank in a donning ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 14. 

Lt. Gen Steve Crespillo, the AFP Inspector General, led the newly promoted officers as he obtained his third star.

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Arvin Lagamon, Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations, was given his second star.

Four other officers got their first star namely Commodore Peter Jempsun De Guzman, Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations; Brig. Gen. Benedict Balaba, Deputy Chief of the AFP Intelligence Service; Brig. Gen. Ramon Flores, Commandant of Cadets of the Philippine Military Academy; and Brig. Gen. Ivan Papera, Chief of the AFP Systems Engineering Office.

AFP Chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. presided over the ceremony at the AFP General Headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

Brawner urged the newly promoted officers to continue to demonstrate the AFP's core values of honor, integrity, and service in performing their roles as military leaders.

“Leadership requires courage, conviction, and a deep sense of duty. Lead by example and instill these values in those you lead and inspire them to be the best version of themselves,” Brawner said.
